A September release means there is still time to make alterations to the Russian DLC maps so they do not facilitate sniping. If we get yet another set of sniper-friendly maps, it will be hard evidence that this is the type of poisonous gameplay DICE wants.

Here's my my solution to the sniping/ team play problem in BF1:

  • Similar to Rising Storm, classes other than assault should have player limits, so majority of a team will be gunning for objectives accompanied by smaller groups of specialists. A hypothetical composition would look something like: 13 or more assault players, 7-8 limit on medics and support classes, 4 max limit for scouts, and the rest for vehicle players. Limiting the specialized (medic, support, scout) should make their importance even more significant in regards to team play. - Along with this change, I'd unlock standard issue rifles for the assault class ONLY because of the extremely vast areas in the game that they will have to push through (also have some sort of historical accuracy as well). I wouldn't unlock this for the medic class however because it can incentivize a medic player to sit back and snipe, which draws them away from reviving teammates in the front lines. Not to mention that the class already has weapons with long range scopes. Being that medics will be running almost alongside assaults, their only choices for grenades should be frags or smoke. Furthermore, the only time a smoke grenade is used is either from a medic or a mortar from a support class. - So what about the scout and support classes? First off, both classes should be the ONLY ones to inflict heavy suppression (if it's not like this way already). In terms of team play:

Scout

  • utilize powerful snipers (sweet-spot mechanic) to pick off/ suppress enemies from a distance
  • use flares, and periscopes to spot from a distance
  • set up tripwire traps around objectives

Support

  • Shell, Smoke, and bomb objectives with mortars and crossbow launchers
  • resupply team with ammunition
  • could bipod and pick off/ suppress enemies from a distance, or run and gun next to assault players - given the weapon variety in the class
