I feel like this is very under-stated.

I would like to hear Howard's version of this story. I'm pretty sure Howard thought this was a prank caller for sure and was trying to catch him lying.

There are a few times where Howard will repeat answers back to Clay when leading into another series of questions or like he is trying to put the pieces together. Occasionally, Howard will slip up or confuse one of the details from a previous answer, I think in an attempt to catch him lying. Like when Clay is talking about killing his first victim when HE was age 16. A few minutes later Howard says something like, "Now about that girl you killed who was 16." (not a direct quote, just from my memory). Clay immediately corrects him, "No Howard, I was 16. She wasn't 16" or something like that.
