[Serious] Americans of Reddit, what law(s) would you like to see created/changed in the near future?

I get downvoted every time I post this, but what the fuck.

I call it the ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT A WAR? law.

The intention of my law is to make war really, really, really fucking hard to start. Why? Because war is really, really, really bad, mmmmmkay?

The US can go to war so "easily" because so few people have skin in the game---in other words, nothing to lose. NOTHING. (I know it's not really "easy" to go to war, but it's not hard enough.)

So, my law:

1) The President, as CIC, could commit the US to a military action for no longer than 30 days.

2) After 30 days, continuation of the action can only come by a 60% majority YES vote of Congress.

3) All lawmakers who vote YES must immediately dispatch an immediate family member to the war zone---spouse, sibling, child, or grandchild. They needn't serve as soldiers---they can serve in a support capacity, helping load trucks or carry ammo or whatever, but they must be in as much danger of being killed, wounded, or captured as the soldiers.

4) Institute the draft, starting with all males and females 18 - 25, starting first with those who come from families with a net income of $1 million or more per year. Then the next tier---those with incomes of $900,000 or more per year. Then $800,000 and so on, before ever touching the middle class or poor kids.

What's the intention of this? To give people who want war a chance to lose something very valuable to them---members of their own family. To put pressure on the rich, to in turn pressure Congress to not go to war (seeing as how Congress listens to the rich a lot more than they listen to "regular" people.)

If Mr. Congressman and Mr. Millionaire know their kids are going off to get fucked up in a war, this would have a very necessary deterrent effect on them.

If it's important enough to go to war over, it's important enough for you to sacrifice your families first. Anything less is chickenshit.
