There was a girl I "dated" for a brief time in HS. For years afterwards, about every 6 months to a year we would meet up and get our gigidy gigidy on. The second to last meetup was at her place. Thought nothing of it as usual.
Some months later I started receiving odd phone calls. "Why did you do it?" Completely random frequency between calls (day/weeks/months). Random enough that it didn't cross my mind one bit between the calls. Always one question "why did you do it", then silence, then they hung up.
Towards the end of this I started to suspect it was one of my friends screwing with me, as we typically did to each other. I started to ask questions back. "why did you do it", silence, then click.
Then I get a call from old girl that wanted the love stick again. She had a broken arm. Turns out on our previous encounter, her place was not just her place, I was hers and a unknown to me husband that was at work. The broken arm.. that was from her scaling fences to get away said ex or soon to be ex that went to where she was living an proceeded to shoot all vehicles and the house with a shotgun with slugs and buckshot before climbing into his vehicle and blowing his own head off.
My strange phone calls stopped so I asked her if/how he could have gotten my my info. Well that would have been from her address book. Well the realization that a guy who was at his wits end, knew where I lived and obviously at least partially blamed me for the events that took place. Did he ever stop by my house? Did I just not happen to be there at the time?
Even more Fcuked up, the last encounter with her, she said she was on the pill. Well apparently she was not. I get a call 7 months later telling me I was about to be a new father. The obvious first question out of my mouth was how many candidates there were for this new opportunity. "None, you are the only one it could be". 12 months later, a paternity test disagreed with her.
Kinda feel bad for the next guy that received a the call. Don't stick it in crazy. Lesson learned. How I made it out of all that, I'll never know.
