[Serious] Christians turned atheists, what made you lose your faith?

Not necessarily atheist, just still in the questioning phase. My biggest problem is that I’ve noticed a correlation with bad people of faith more than those without. Church leaders who did conniving things behind people’s backs, super Christians who were actually terrible people who loved when others failed, thieves, abusers, manipulators, etc. If I was more of a decent human being than these people who supposedly devote their lives to their faith, something doesn’t add up. I’ve witnessed these people try to separate children from their parents and have them lie to their parents, I’ve had my wallet stolen at church (I went when I was a kid), I’ve seen them try to cheat in various ways, I’ve seen them so self-serving it blows my mind, manipulating members to their political beliefs that I didn’t agree with, etc. But then they look down on someone like me who doesn’t attend church, yet I never stole, don’t believe in cheating, give and volunteer, and generally want people to succeed. I feel like humans have the ability to tell right from wrong, but they were worse people than their ‘faith’ said they should be.
