[Serious] current/former gang members of reddit, what is your craziest story?

I accidentally joined a "Thai mafia" group. I was mostly involved with illegal gambling.

One time I was eating at the restaurant that was owned by the head of the organization. A tourist got drunk and started to yell and threaten people. Out of the kitchen comes a bunch of guys with knives talking about how they were going to kill the guy for making a scene. I got up, put my arm around him, and told him he needs to calm down because some men are about to kill him if he doesn't leave right now. We walked down the street to where he was staying and I told girl to keep him in his room. I was thanked personally by the head/owner and told if I ever needed a favor to talk to him.

Fast forward a few months, I was casually talking to a ridiculously drunk tourist who arrived in Thailand earlier that day. After the bar we were at closed at 3am, she goes to a tuktuk driver about going to see a "ping pong show" and he quotes her an insanely high price. I told her she should go to sleep and see it tomorrow, the man is always there. The stupid tuktuk driver doesn't know what I said, but just sees the girl walk away. The tuktuk driver starts to threaten to kill me, but I just laughed and left. The next day, people I don't know start to come up to me and tell me the tuktuk driver is threatening to kill me. When I walk past him, he makes the throat slitting gesture. Okay, not cool dude.

So I told my partner what happened and she goes with me to speak to the head guy who said he owed me a favor. The dude tells us to wait outside and he will meet us in front of the restaurant. The guy comes out in a really nice black suit and tells us to find the tuktuk driver. He walks up to the tuktuk driver with my partner and I and asks us if he threatened me. The guy says no. Boss tells him, I'm paraphrasing: You do not threaten my friend, he is a great man in this community and if you touch him I will kill your entire family. Lists the names of his family members, and then walks away. We go back to the restaurant and the boss tells me he will have his tuktuk taken by the police and he will never work in the city again. That night, the tuktuk driver was gone and I never saw him again.
