[Serious] Did you ever attend a wedding that was a complete disaster? What happened?

A friend was marrying another friend. Good enough, except the groom was sort of the young man of his family home because his father left them a decade or so ago. Naturally the mother of the groom deeply resented the bride for stealing her son. In an effort to control the potential damage, the couple decided to have a small service and a small reception with only a couple of immediate friends and family. Mother of the Groom (henceforth MotG) demanded that a vast array of distant relatives be invited once she learned that the bride's family list was small because they couldn't afford the trip (both families are from far off in this country, the groom's from Greece and the brides from the Philippines). The groom and the bride both told her no. Day of the wedding, DURING THE SERVICE, a veritable army of surly older Greek men and a couple women come in. The priest attempts to keep reading but gets angry at the noise and stops to chastise them on behalf of the couple. One in the crowd calls him a 'catholic fuck'. Service ends and after much arguing the family-mob is told to leave because there's no plan for them at the reception. The MotG, who of course planned all this, has the 20-odd people stand on the gravel parking lot at the reception and drink while staring at the invited guests. Eventually things go exactly how you expect: a drunk Greek guest wanders over, goaded by his kin, and starts dancing and grabs the ass of a female guest. She screamed and her brother (my husband) and his buddies go grab the guy and pull him off the floor. They throw him out on the lawn and a battle between angry Italian-Americans and drunk Greeks erupts.
