[Serious] Why is it difficult for some Americans to accept stricter gun control laws?

Yeah I was talking about general view of violence of crime, you've specified victims and brought up a stat I wasn't even disputing or making reference too. Again, I'm not talking about opinions on guns being helpful or not. I'm talking on the lack of this even being a significant talking point over here.

The rest, well I can't say much to that. Obviously there is the chance that there is a conspiracy to hide the British thirst for arms. And my social circle may be so completely cut off from even knowledge of the existence of other circles in my country - or these other circles are so secretive that I'd have to seek them out - that I am literally completely unaware that these views even have a significant presence. But no matter how far you stretch your opinion of my open mindedness, there really isn't much to suggest it's a significant issue - even by your own assertions - unless you are saying this is a very calculated grand conspiracy suppressing a genuine movement as opposed to something considered a matter for police, soldiers and crime - anything else being fringe in terms of UK society - because in spite of what you say, there is no generalised gun culture here outside of specialised circles. You guys have it written in your constitution. It's apples and oranges.

Let's state an opinion and say that pro gun people in the UK have every right to campaign - and let's go a step further and work under the opinion that they are 100% correct and guns are the best option for the UK (I was trying to stay away from opinions on this issue) - even so, it is not (yet perhaps) anything significant in our society right now. I understand it may be a conspiracy - but even this is sort of my point. Let's say it's being suppressed the result is still the same. It's not an active significant issue. And by the way - I think it's similarly pointless to use the UK as an example of why guns should be banned in the U.S.
