[SERIOUS]Doctors who have pulled the plug on somebody, what was it like? What is your perspective on death?

My perspective on death is that everyone will die so why fight it. Yes, it is right to fight for others to live, but if somebody wants to die due to a disease or illness after they have received all the help they can then I don't see why we should deny them their right.

I had a patient who was on a life support machine, really nice older gentleman who for this story we will call Harry. Now Harry didn't have many of his family around him, his wife and daughter were there but his brothers, sisters and parents had all passed. I went in to check his script and ensure that all was well. His wife decided to leave the room at this point to go bring some food up from the canteen which was absolutely fine. However, as she passes me in the door way she must have hit the light switch and this in due course caused me to trip on the cable for Harry's life support. My foot ripped it out of the wall and within the 3 minutes of me fumbling to find the escapee plug and it's hole in the wall. Harry was dead. His wife came back but by this point I had replaced him with another old gentleman and she never even noticed. Possibly due to me poking her in the eyes as I left.
