Yes incredibly sad situation as well. Went to middle school and HS with him and also saw him in college. We hung out sometimes mostly at denny's in the smoking section. Played in a friend of mines band for a while. Not a bad drummer, Kind of quiet most but not all of the time of the time. He was raised as a scientologist, knew what he told me about the religion but I couldn't grasp any of the concepts due to it being too far away from anything normal. At maybe 21 or so he started developing schizophrenia. He got arrested Trespassing and a psych eval was ordered on religious grounds. Going to skip all of the gory details but he was never medicated or how he was being treated didn't work properly. Ended up having a schitzophrenic episode and killed his mom. I believe he fully didn't understand what happened at the time. Now he spends his days in an institution as far as I am aware. I remember in middle and HS seeing his mom and she was gorgeous seemed so full of life. When myself and group of friends that we hung with found out at first I though one of our friends was fucking with us. Then it was on the local news. He was out there sometimes but in no way though he was capable of someone like that. No one did. It makes me sad to think about. I don't know if it could have been prevented somehow but I am leaning towards yes. I wish it turned out different. But wishing doesn't make it so.
