[Serious] For those who have been in a car accident, how to you mentally slow down to go to sleep?

I've been in seven as a passenger, only one where the driver in our vehicle was at fault. With my dad on the highway, he was doing a shoulder check as we were entering a turn/merge and the car in-front of us suddenly stopped. A lot of getting rear-ended because people didn't see my moms little red car. A multi-car pile-up when we stopped at an intersection to let an emergency vehicle pass. (This was at the bottom of a sloped road in winter)

My mom was put on beta blockers to help her with anxiety and it seemed to improve her sleep. She also keeps busy throughout the day so by the time night rolls around she's tired enough to fall asleep quickly. Exercising and eating healthy help.

I never had the same level of anxiety, but occasionally I can't shut my brain off. I just try to be proactive because of other sleeping problems I have. Making sure to have an hour or so of relaxing activities before bed, reading or listening to music with the lights low, watching a movie, chatting with a friend, something relatively passive.

In an emergency I'll reach for a sleep aid, but I wouldn't force it all the time, sometimes schedule permitting I'll just stay up until I am ready to sleep. (Which usually doesn't take more than 45 minutes to an hour anyway)

Hope you're able to find something that helps you.
