I live in nuclear family, so all I have to do is avoid mom. I can enter kitchen, make food but only for myself and siblings, touch food after mother had eaten her share, not allowed in religious events, Pooja ( atheist so that somehow work out for me to excuse myself), not allowed to wash hair on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, not allowed to cut nails or oil hair, not allowed to eat pickles.

It's not like we have to follow these strictly as long as we avoid things which affect our mother directly, we get a few lectures.

Never afraid to call out my mother when she treat us as untouchable. She was much more relaxed when was young, now that she is old, it's like she changed into a regressive old hag.
