[Serious] How do YOU know when you are depressed ?

There are a couple of signs that I've trained myself to recognize that I'm depressed so I can do something about it.

  • I take a lot of showers. I like showers, they relax me. I can turn my mind off and just stand there in the warmth.

  • I have a tendency to sleep a lot. Usually when I'm depressed, I become unusually tired. But I also tend to intentionally sleep a lot to escape the current situation. In my sleep, I don't have to feel anything or think about anything. I can just dream.

  • Finally, my friends ask me what's wrong or start to randomly try and cheer me up. This one hurts the most because I've always thought that I was pretty good at hiding when I become depressed. I don't want to burden them or make them worry about me but I do think it's wonderful and I feel so SO blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people.

Luckily I haven't had a real big depressive phase in a while. I find if I recognize the signs early when it's mildest I can fight it by keeping myself busy or surrounding myself with people I love.
