[Serious] Humans are nuanced, no one is 100% liberal or conservative. Liberals of reddit, what is one conservative viewpoint you agree with? Conservatives of Reddit, what is one liberal viewpoint you agree with?

Yep, the gun owners in this thread are absolutely insanely and delusional and spouting nonsense that in no way reflects reality. I am as anti-gun as they come, and I am frustrated by the regulations proposed by the Democrats because they would do NOTHING. They would literally change nothing because they address problems that don't exist, weapons that don't exist, etc. The "gun show loophole" is nonsense for instance, everyone at gun shows runs a background check on their phones. It's 2018 ffs. The assault weapons ban would do nothing, it just defines extremely specific characteristics that manufacturers would easily sidestep.

Gun owners often make the same dumbshit analogy: "Why do you blame guns for killing people if you don't blame cars for killing people?" Ignoring the nearly infinite ways this analogy is flawed, it's possibly a good starting point: let's regulate guns the same way we do cars. You need a government issued license to own any gun. You have to take a written test and a performance evaluation. Your license has to be renewed every five years. You have to register each gun you own, that registration comes with a fee, and it must be renewed yearly.

In the UK, in the 80s or 90s, a man tried to assassinate the Queen. He made it to the point of being directly next to her carriage, aimed a handgun at her, and pulled the trigger several times. She is survived because firearms are regulated so well in that country that the man was unable to get his hands on live ammunition and fired only blanks.
