[Serious] If you could send a letter to yourself five years ago, what would you say?

I don't want to say that it gets better, because it doesn't. It has gotten exponentially worse. Your abusive as fuck father tries to kill you (again) several times, including trying to run you over with his SUV on New Year's Eve on year (you escape with only bruises). Your mother sinks deeper into depression. Your money situation has gotten so bad that you, your mother, and your brother (your sister ran off to live with your father) are potentially facing eviction in the next years from the apartment you have called home for pretty much your whole life because your mom is struggling to pay the bills. You think eating at McDonald's 5 times a week for dinner is bad? At least this wasn't a threat back then. You have Borderline Personality Disorder and have tried to kill yourself a few times.

But you know what you have going for you? Athletic ability. Your ability as a pitcher will take you very far. Also, lay off the elbows in basketball and don't get into as many fights on the court. You'll thank me later. Spend as much time as you can with Grandma. She is still kicking right now, but I wish I had gotten to learn more about her before she lost what made her a person. You grow out of your awkward stage and now you are very handsome and can ask out pretty much any girl you want. Choose wisely though, and when you meet a girl after your friend dies who helps you become happy again, treat her the best you can. Don't be too passionate though, you'll blow it. She is very temperamental, she is a free bird, she is very much like you. And unfortunately, she is probably going to be the one that got away, because your roller coaster personality was too much for her. Just stay calm and you'll be all set. She won't date anyone else for a while, she is beautiful, and she has a lot of love to give. Just treat her well. Maybe you'll improve our life, because I wish I was still with her. Just keep working hard, take care of your skin, and don't be afraid to try new things as long as they aren't drugs or alcohol. You know how those fuck people up. Good luck.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Sincerely,

You 5 years from now
