[Serious] Late Nighters, what is the strangest/creepiest thing you have experienced in the dead of night?

A few years ago I would wake up each morning for about 2 weeks straight with that strange feeling like I something creepy had happened the night before but I couldn't remember it exactly akin to how you forget dreams. At this time I was working 80-90 hours a week (my work was overwhelmingly understaffed) and I was having trouble getting to sleep. No before I tell this story, I had experienced sleep paralysis before this incident and it was completely different. Anyways, I remember getting home from work at about 10:30 at night and I gorged on some microwavable taquitos and took a quick rinse in the shower and got my ass to bed.

I was fast asleep when I suddenly awoke abruptly and everything was quite hazy. I could not pick my head up and I could not move my body. I lay there for about five minutes before I pass out again from exhaustion. I still have no idea how long I fell asleep but I was awoken again. I felt a cold chill on the back of my neck and tried to touch the area but could not move my arms. Fear took over and I furiously tried to lift my head to look up but my eyes began to bounce all around the room. I struggled to move and my head began to shake like I was having a seizure. After about 20 seconds I finally tilted my head back to look up at what I can only describe as a shadow that you would see cast by someone standing in the light of a candle. I tried to scream but could not, and only managed to let out a whispered "what are you?" My head slowly tilted back down towards the bed and I just began to weep. After about 5 minutes I realized that this ordeal was over but I did not dare get up. I let my inner 5 year old take over and I covered my head with the blanket and passed out shortly after. I woke up the next morning and vaguely remebered what had happened. I had a feeling that something strange had happened but could not remeber it in its entirety. I went about my day as usual and the strange thing is, I remembered it vividly about five minutes before I went to sleep for the night. This fucked me up for a while. I still don't think it was sleep parlysis, but if it was, that's some pretty fucked up shit dude.
