[SERIOUS] past cult leaders/members, whats your stories?

I grew up in an Amish family, which I eventually ran away from. I think there is a bunch of information about the Amish life out in the public now but I rarely hear of it referred to as a cult. It's so much a cult. So much that I'm even partly afraid of just posting this.

The hardest part of being an Amish girl was the expectations that I had to do double the work. I had to help with the outside work and the inside work and if I slacked, I risked being beaten. Or worse - sexually abused. There was always an underlying fear of incestually abuse in that sense. Nothing ever felt safe and you could never question anything. It was very much like how the book The Giver is but you don't ever get released, just beat into submission.

There is a lot I could share but I think if I share one more thing is that many don't know how abusive the Amish can be to animals. They have the puppy mill business locked up, like you can't make any money selling puppies if the Amish live by and they behave ruthlessly to their completion and their puppers. One time I saw another Amish process a dead puppy and feed it to the other puppies, that was right around the time I was getting ready to high tale it.
