(Serious) people who do/have done drugs, what does getting high feel like and was/is it worth it?

I'd say it depends on what you expect. Different drugs have varying effects, they work on different neurotransmitters in your brain and certain substances' influence on one's mind and body can differ from person to person. For example, people with attention deficit disorders can feel like they benefit from using stimulants like amphetamines since they feel more focused and stable under their influence, meanwhile a person who struggles with anxiety might find stimulants or even weed very anxiety-inducing, so they lean more towards opioids (for example heroin) or benzodiazepines (which arent really a street drug but are often abused and can be very addicting). Thats obviously WONT be the case for everyone, its just a major generalisation and only scratching the surface of pharmacology and its effects on human psyche. I kind of deviated from the topic of the question tho. Personally I tried a few different substances ranging from speed, mdma, weed, psychodelics, benzos, some research chemicals, but I only got really hooked on morphine. I started experimenting with it on February 2020 and by June I was pretty much addicted to it. It helped reduce anxiety, managed my depressive episodes and became my main coping mechanism to deal with stressful situations in life. Before I started using I was diagnosed with depression, and I guess I didnt really get much support, so that's probably what pushed me to self-medicate with illegal substances. Was it worth it? Hell no, if I had only spent the last 6 months getting professional psychological help and working on my mental health, I would have surely been in a better place by now. Drugs didnt help me learn how to get my life back on track and help myself, just numbed the pain. I wish I had never tried for the first time.
