[Serious] People who have killed another person, accidently or on purpose, what happened?

My grandfather passed away 3 weeks ago at peace, I have always agreed with controlled euthanasia but now more so than ever.

I went to visit him in his nursing home on the Thursday alone for the first time without my parents, he had had a long battle with cancer and within the recent months had been unable to eat without being sick essentially meaning at this point he was a skeleton with skin. Anyway he had been trying to overdose we think because of the constant pain he was in but on this certain day he was hinting at me to create a noose out of his buzzer that he would ring to call the nurse - at this point I knew that that was his final decision he really wanted to pass on.

The nurses that night then started to administer the morphine making him more at peace. He was talking and all on the Friday but by the Saturday I got the call from my parents, he had become into a vegetative state but looked extremely happy and peaceful. Even though he wasn't able to communicate we knew. The nurses upped his morphine dose and we knew that it would be coming close to the end, later on at about 9pm he took him last few breaths before saying his mothers name and passing on. He died with dignity and without the suffering surrounded by his loved ones - it's a hard thing but better that than have them suffer a long painful death I believe
