they're also really fun to shoot, tinker with, customize. They feel good in the hand. some are stylish like Sig Sauer (as opposed to utilitarian and blocky like Glock). There's an aesthetic to a ergonomic pistol like the P226 by Sig Sauer. The same pistol the navy seals and Texas rangers sometimes use.

I enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together which is something you should do after every trip to the range (to clean and oil your gun).

I like how a gun if maintained can be passed down for generations.

did I mention target practice is fun as heck? it's kinda the same appeal as billiards or shooting a bow and arrow... kind of meditative.
