[Serious] People who have opted to not have children, why have you made this decision?

This is a bit of a bad question. Lots of people opt not to have children, and later opt to have them. There are a ton of very immature (and by immature I mean within the span of your own life, not as an insult) decisions that people love to tout until they grow old enough to change their mind.

The number of people in my life I know that "will never have kids" has been trending towards zero for the last 19 years since I got duped into fathering a child (who's great, btw - despite her shitty mother), and it's not because I don't know them anymore.

There are plenty of reasons not to have them too young, before you can afford them, with the wrong person, etc.. but once all those things fall into place, lots of people's minds change. I never wanted children, and when I fucked up, I made damn sure I wouldn't again by getting a vasectomy. Something I did not regret and quite enjoyed for a long time, until a few years ago when I found myself with a stable partner, in a stable job, and basically without any more reason to play the I hate kids game anymore. I'm not likely to get mine reversed, or go through needles in the junk type procedures, but still.. I recognize the change in thought that I've had as I have gotten older, and wonder if I'd make the same decision now.

TL;DR - You can't say you've "Opted out" until you're dead or sterile, shit happens.
