[Serious] People who have turned their life around, what’s your story?

My life started going down hill when my parents got divorced and I moved to a new town with my mom when I was 9 years old. I never had many friends, so i decided that i wanted to be one of the "cool kids" at my new school. I started smoking cigarettes at 10 years old and marijuana at 12. I started regularily having sex at 13 years old and started becoming disinterested in school. By 16 I started drinking alcohol and selling marijuana. I completely stopped caring about school, began failing every class, and went to parties every single day. One day, I was so drunk and high that i passed out at a party. I woke the next day up on the bathroom floor to an empty house with my wallet, all my money, and all my weed stolen. I looked at my phone and saw a text from my girlfriend of 3 years saying that she was breaking up with me. I decided that i needed to turn my life around. That day, I quit everything cold turkey, and started focusing on my education. I enrolled in this special program at my school that allowed to me recover my lost credits while simultaneously working as a maintenance apprentice at a factory. I realized that i actually really enjoyed learning about how these machines and electronics worked, and that i am actually surprisingly good at math. Ive since graduated high school and am enrolled at a 4 year university working on a dual major in math and physics and plan I on getting a Ph.D in theoretical physics. That day that i woke up hungover on that bathroom floor was the most important day of my life.

TL;DR. Stoner and alcoholic in highschool turned into a math and physics major in college.
