[Serious] Reddit, what was the moment that you knew things would always be different from then on?

This is going to be long, but I know it's worth the read.

Little sister's grad party. My mom had suspected something was going on with the neighbor and my dad for a few months. At around 1 AM, she noticed he wasn't anywhere to be found in the house, so she decided to cut through the backyards to the neighbor's to see if he was there. Sees him coming out of her walk-out basement adjusting his belt. She told him to pack his shit and get out the house, and then she came and told me and my family while sobbing. My grandpa (her dad) looked at me with a "you gotta do something" look. I also was about 10 beers deep and had hated my father secretly for years, so I finally got a green light to do something. I literally sprinted up the stairs looking for my dad, until I saw him shut the door and hide in the master bathroom. I broke down the door and beat the living shit out of him. 10 years of anger and hate came pouring out. First punch knocked him on his ass, and I just kept wailing on him. I was pulled out of the bathroom by my best friend, and my dad staggered to his feet and was dragged out by my uncle (mom's brother). He got in his car and drove off. I sprinted out following him, and managed to hit the back window of his truck with an empty beer bottle. Sat down on the front lawn and just stared into space realizing my entire life was about to change.

Since my little sister was allowed to drink at this party, she had passed out and missed the whole thing. The next morning she woke up, saw the door to my parents' master bathroom destroyed, walked in and saw blood everywhere. She thought someone had been murdered.

Parents divorced and my dad and I haven't spoken in 4 years. I'm the happiest I've ever been.
