[SERIOUS] Redditor’s who completely stopped drinking alcohol because of the constant repercussions due to actions taken while intoxicated- What was the final straw? What advise would you give for someone in a similar situation?

This is not me, but a friend. He gets aggressive and angry when drunk, and turns into a completely different person. When he is sober he is funny and laid back. If he drinks any amount - doesn’t even need to be drunk - he becomes easily angered and starts fights.

Over the summer he went on a trip with my boyfriend, got wasted, left the bar without telling anyone, in a state where he knew no one and had never been before. He left his wallet and keys at the bar. Turns out he passed out drunk in a ditch about a mile from the bar in a residential area. He was picked up by a cop who, somehow, did not book him for public intoxication but instead drove him to the nearest motel.

When my bf found him the next day, bf said he went berserk and everyone threatened to stop being friends with this guy because of how he acted when he drank.

Thankfully he saw the error of his ways and no longer drinks.
