[Serious] Redditors, what's the scariest nightmare you've ever had?

Backstory: One year, during Thanksgiving, my brother taped a fart machine under the chair my great grandmother was going to be sitting in. She was probably 90 years old at the time and I believe I was probably 8 or 9.

Dinner starts and my brother is giving me the “look”, which means he’s going to use the remote control to start the farting. He did it 2 or 3 times and a few family members giggled, I was laughing, and my brother was dying laughing. She responded with a simple (and not even embarrassed) “excuse me” each time.

The joke was brought up every year but it was never replicated. She died a few years later when I was just starting high school.

Dream: A few months after her death, I had the most horrifying dream of my life. It took place during thanksgiving dinner, at the same table, in the same dining room, and my brother is playing the fart machine joke on my great grandma again. The dream was so clear and vivid.

This time, everyone is laughing hysterically, except my grandma. She seems confused and increasingly frustrated as the seconds tick by. Suddenly, she lurches across the table (like 10 feet it seemed), digs her nails into my forearms , puts her face right up to mine and screams “QUIT LAUGHING AT ME”. Her face was extremely strained and contorted. She looked horrible.

The scariest part: she had no eyeballs, just empty black holes.

I’ve never woken up that suddenly or shaken from a dream.
