[Serious] Redditors who have had a near-death experience, what happened?

I almost drowned when I was on a family vacation a couple of years back. I was swimming in the sea and was caught in an undertow. I remember tumbling around, panicked, flailing for what felt like the longest minutes of my life, desperately trying to get to the surface. Eventually I was pulled down to the ocean floor and I remember just lying there, completely calm. Like everything was so serene and without me noticing my mind did this thing where it started to count. Next thing I know, mom's boyfriend pulled me up and dragged me back to shore while I was coughing like a crazy person. I got really sick afterwards because I had swallowed so much sea water. Ever since then I have these instanses where I can get immensly uncomfortable whenever I'm near the sea. It's sad because I love the sea, I used to love swimming in the sea. I can still appreciate it's beauty but I'd probably get an anxiety attack if I were ever to swim in it again. Lakes are fine, but not the sea.
