[Serious] Teachers of reddit, what "red flags" have you seen in your students? What happened?

Around our area, every high school had a reputation of some sort. The one I taught at was full of pot smokers, one a few miles away had at least one fight a day, another had the highest teenage pregnancy rate (but that was mostly due to the school having a childcare center, and thus being a better selection for girls who already had kids and were in high school). The one that was infamous for fights breaking out was where a friend of mine taught, and he told me about a young freshman who scared him to the bone.

He said when you looked into the eyes of this kid, it was like there was no humanity left. He was an empty shell full of hatred and evil, or so my friend said. He would regularly attack kids who didn't even threaten him, lash out against teachers verbally and physically, disrupt class constantly, you name it. It got the point where even the seniors wouldn't go near him, and he was expelled after stabbing a kid and nearly killing him.

I don't know what that kid is doing today, but my friend felt very strongly about him. They don't usually wish people would die, but he believes that the kid could not possibly be any benefit to society, and will only cause chaos as he grows older.
