One time I was home alone and I went upstairs to get some food before I went to bed, it was pretty late. I peek out the window to the alley and see these figures moving around. Then a car light turns on, illuminating their ski masks. One is holding rope. Shit suddenly gets real and in my panicking state I can’t figure out what to do other than lock the door of my room, and crawl under the blankets with my phone open for an emergency call. I hear the door open and I start crying in fear.

Then, I hear my dad’s voice. My parents are home, from the front door. Can’t explain it, maybe there was a good reason for them to be in an alleyway at midnight with ski masks and ropes. Kinky Canadian exhibitionists? Or maybe I really did just narrowly dodge a home invasion out of pure luck of my parents coming home at the right time.
