The way our current government is set up. You basically have two choices even though its supposed to be an open table for new ideas to promote advancing society. You can vote for a third party but the last time that happened was in the mid 19th century. With the two choices, both are flawed so you are forced to choose the lesser evil of the two. There are people that have taken the wing of their party's voters to try to present new concepts but are ultimately seen as dangerous to the party's image because it goes against their donor's wishes. This results in shutting down any ideas that don't make more money to the two possible solutions you have a choice on decided on as a citizen. It seems to me like there's some fundamental issue at play here.
