I was hoping someone already said this. But I believe the most important thing people can do is actually state their opinions. We are in the situation we are in because people are scared to lose friends on social media. No one wants to admit that as the reason, but it is the truth.
If you put up a post one side or the other people start arguing in your comments section. "Friends" view you differently based on what you post. Now that we are viewed by others based on our content and not our character, people are hesitant to share opinions.
The reason Trump was elected, whether you support him or not, is because people were afraid to share their opinions. The silent..."majority", sat back waiting to vote for Trump while others stood by refusing to acknowledge his chances at success in the election.
If everyone actually were willing to share their opinions it would not only inform more voters, but it would also influence those around you to see the world similarly to how you view it. It is not about changing other peoples views, but it is about expressing your opinions so others understand where you are coming from.
If you hate Trump, stand up and say something. Calmly call out those who post information you disagree with and share information from reputable sources that show the basis of your view point. If you love Trump, stand up and say something. Explain why you agree with what he has done/is doing and be willing to accept criticism and engage in meaningful intelligent debate.
Share your opinions, as dumb as you think they may be, share them. Tell the world how you feel. Tell your friends and family how you feel. And be willing to listen and understand others. Sitting on your hands hoping for the best is the worst thing you can do. And it has led us to where we are now.
Do not kid yourself. Every day the United States takes more and more steps to ending up in a state where civil war or at the very least a coup is a very real possibility. Six and seven figure crowds of people are protesting every day in this country. It is a matter of time before those protests become violent. And I am not talking about inauguration day brake a few windows violent. I am talking shooting at the forces that try to stop them. Government forces and police firing back on crowds. Full scale rioting. This is not a joke any more. It has gone to far. It is time for everyone to stand up and stand for what they believe in before it reaches a tipping point.
