Late to the party so no one will see this but...

I was driving down a dark stretch of road (surrounded and canopied by tall oak and pine trees) around 1 or 2 AM after leaving a friend's house. I look over and about 6 feet from the side of the road is this strange figure about 1/4 of a mile ahead of me. I can't see it well at first because my civic has shitty high beams but I slowed down, thinking it was a deer but it was facing away from me so it just looked strange. But nope, it was a coyote-like animal standing on its hind legs, hunched over, staring at me with a face that was a mixture of coyote and human. And this thing was huge, at least 7 or 8 feet tall. And it definitely wasn't a wolf because we haven't had those recorded in my area in decades.

But I was in a really weird trance as I drove closer. It was looking at me. Not at the car, not at the high beams, but right at me like it knew exactly where I was sitting. I slowed down as I got closer, I think because my brain was trying so hard to process what it was and what was happening that the rest of my body just became limp. But at some point when I was about 15-ish feet away from it.. my body reacted out of reflex or some shit and I slammed on the gas and sped out of there. I looked back once and saw it staring at my car still, its whole body illuminated in the red tail lights.

People think wendigo. I don't know what I saw, I don't try to put a label on it. I just know that it scared me. Then and now.
