[Serious] What is the scariest thing you have seen with your own eyes?

I was driving to work one day during a bad rain storm. Near where I worked there was a busy four lane intersection that is usually congested with traffic during rush hour. As I approached the intersection, I got into the right lane, as my office was just past the intersection light. To the left of me in the next lane was a large SUV (I was driving a small Toyota). That day there was less than normal traffic. I was on the north bound lanes (along with the SUV to my left), and the east bound lanes of the intersection to my right had no cars waiting at the light. When my light turned green, i hesitated for a moment. Normally when the light turns green, I go right then, but for some reason I didn't (maybe it was because of the poor visibility due to the weather, but I still cannot say why I did not just go). The SUV to my left took off immediately, and after a moment I took off and followed about one car lengths behind it. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, a large truck from the east bound lane of the intersection ran the red light, cut right in front of me, and slammed broadside into the SUV. The guy in the truck had to have been doing 40 or so, and totally creamed the SUV.

I pulled off the road to assist the driver/passengers of the SUV along with a number of other cars as well as the driver of the truck that hit them. No one was hurt luckily (just badly shaken and both vehicles were totaled).

After it was all over, and I arrived at work, I replayed the accident in my head and realized that if I had not hesitated for that brief moment and went on the green light along side the SUV, It would have been my car that was broadsided and it probably would have also pushed me into the SUV. The SUV was sturdy enough to take the damage and protect its passengers, but if I had got hit in my little car, I probably would have been badly hurt or killed from the impact.
