I woke up once when our family dog was growling at a corner of my bedroom. Hair raised, backing up on the bed, looked like he was about to pounce at whatever he thought was there. It was storming so lightning flashed and I swear I saw an outline of a person, but nothing when I frantically turned on the light. Despite being an extreme skeptic, I had a hard time falling back asleep that night.

This one isn't mine but my mom and my older brother (18 years older than me) were left by his dad when he was a kid. It was just them and my mom worked 2 jobs just to make ends meet. My brother wanted an atari for Christmas, but my mom just couldn't afford it (I think it was $200 back in the 70s). They had no family in town, but woke up on Christmas day to this atari under the tree. My mom swears to this day that she didn't buy it and has no idea where it came from, but she apparently had dead bolts installed on the doors shortly after that.
