[Serious]What's the most awkward date you've been on and what made it awkward?

Alright Reddit, I'll tell you a story; the story of the most awkward date I've ever been on. Now, take in to consideration I don't often do the whole "date" thing. I enjoy being single and any dates I go on are usually well planned and with someone I already know well. With that said... this is my story...

I met this girl during the month of September, lets call her Sarah. It was a Sunday night in a small town and I was at a local bar after a staff party. Only a few of us were left, the true party warriors, drinking, chatting, reveling in a night of alcoholic indulgence. After returning from the mens room I saw my coworker chatting with a very pretty but unfamiliar woman. Of course I immediately went to the table and introduced myself.

It turns out this woman, Sarah, was from out of town, and from my home city too! Well, this of course was a sign, and I continued to chat with this lovely woman. How long are you here I asked? "Only a few more days" she replies. Saddened and thinking all hope is lost she continues a moment later "... but I'll be back at Christmas! I am staying with family and know no one in town...". Well this is my chance I think, now is my time! I tell her I'd be more than happy to meet up with her and take her out on her return. We chat, we flirt and the night comes to an (unfortunately early due to bar policy on a Sunday in a small town) end. I hand her my number on a grungy bar coaster and take my leave, not knowing what will become of this meeting but hoping, of course, that fun will follow.

Months pass and I've all but forgotten about this woman; life is busy, work is demanding, I am getting ready to move house and don't have time for a love life. It is at this moment I get a message on my phone. "Hey, I'll be in town in two weeks... do you still want to meet up?" she says, and I of course reply positively. And thus begins the terrible date, the whole reason you've slogged through this long, drawn out piece of text (still reading right?). We meet at a local bar, a trendier place than the first, better music, drinks and facilities. She is... not exactly as remembered, but pretty non the less (and I'm certain she feels the same, that night the alcohol flowed like no other). We try our best to make conversation but for a few subjects our interests don't match and it all falls flat. We dance and it is stilted and awkward. She is driving and as such can't drink; I'm drinking but don't want to be seen as a drunk or a fool so I feel awkward and nurse a couple of drinks.

The end approaches, I can see it. She feels awkward, I'm uncomfortable, the night has been... a disaster. With moments remaining and few chances left I make my Hail Mary, I say what I've been waiting to say all night and take the only chance I have left. "So... you want to get out of here? Want to come back to my place for the night?". Stunned, she hesitates and does not reply for what feels like a lifetime but is in fact a few seconds. "Well... I'm driving... my car is out front so... yeah ok lets go". And so I think the night is looking up!

To my place we drive, idle chatter, much relaxed on the journey home. I think to myself that I should have mentioned going back to my place much earlier, we were both clearly only there for sex. So we arrive, we make small talk for a few moments, I offer coffee and thankfully she says no. She says she can't stay the whole night and reluctantly seems as if she is going to leave. I think "fuck it", I lean in, we kiss and go to my room. From there, one might think a fairytale is about to happen... Nope, terrible awkward sex, uncomfortableness afterwards and then I walk her out and we never speak again. The end, fuck you.

TL;DR: Ha, no. You want some awkward shit? Go read the fucking story, you can be as let down by this shit as I was about the date.
