[Serious] What's the most traumatizing thing you experienced as a child?

Two very traumatic pet stories. Not nearly as traumatic as some of these other posts.

  1. When I was in kindergarten, I had a cat. I loved this cat. Being only a young child, I was not the best at taking care of it, and would sometimes mildly hurt it (my little siblings more heavily), but it was still a very relaxed cat, and would not lash out. But one day, middle of first grade, my cat was becoming more and more sick. We eventually had to bring him to the vet, where he stayed for two days. But then, on day 3, my dad came home from work, and he was in a strangely grim mood. This was strange, because my parents are both very cheery and kind people. We had just finished up dinner and I had asked him for dessert, but he made me wait and brought everybody into the living room. He announced that our cat, "Paw Revere," was no longer with us, and that he had passed away from an unknown, extremely rare heart disease. It was so rare, that there wasn't even a cure for it. The more traumatic part was roughly 3 months later, when I had an emotional breakdown at the dinner table, when we were talking about him, and I tried to describe a cute picture of him I had saved on my little-kid tablet of him sitting in my mom's big Ugg boot. I then started to cry and babble the rest of the sentence. I still remember my mom's arms around me trying to comfort me, when all I said was "I just miss him so much." (I'm literally tearing up at this point so I'm just gonna move on).
  2. Much worse but a lot less emotional, when I was around 4 1/2 to 5, I had a big yellow lab named Saige. My mom found this cute little puppy and we wanted it, but my dad was too stubborn and we ended up with this big hunting dog instead. This thing was, like, my size. And around this time, my mom was around 5 or 6 months pregnant with my younger sister. One day, me and my little brothers (who are twins - more on that later, 2 years younger than me) wanted to go outside. My mom had to go out to bring my dog back inside, because it was so vicious at this point that we had baby gates all around the house (one of which she tore out of the wall and drifted around the house with it attached to her leash like a formula 1 racer) and we couldn't even be outside with her at the same time. But, my one little brother, ran outside, clueless, and got jumped by her. She tackled him and he was crying. My mom ran out to stop her, and thankfully my brother wasn't seriously injured. We then decided to give her away, and she became a police dog. So, if there are any police officers reading this and you know/knew Saige the yellow lab, let me know.
