[Serious] What's something "harmless" your parent(s) did to you as a kid, that really screwed you up as an adult?

Wouldn't step in and do something about how my brother treated me, both verbally and physically. Being hit and told jm worthless pretty much from the time my dad left until my brother moved out when I was just starting high school, it was every day and she just assumed it was just teasing and would yell at him to.knock it off but never anything else he would just go right back to it.it got so bad all through elementary j wouldn't go home after school I went to my best friends house and wait there until my mom was off work then go back home because I was scared to be alone with him. And I sort of get it mom was left by herself to raise two young kids (5 and 9) when dad left so it wasn't exactly a wall in the park but still I feel like a lot of issues I have today stem from that and could have been avoided if there was just someone with me to help when I was younger
