[Serious] What's your unpopular opinion / hard truth about the CS industry?

The expectation of these benefits comes from the reality that these benefits are given by many companies.

The developers I know who have those expectations, work at companies that give those benefits.

The only people who don't have those benefits, but think they're going to get them no matter what, are students, and they find out quickly that's not the case.

But I don't think contralle is just talking about students, specifically,

When these same people ask if they can wait a few days to push a fix for a regression they caused ...

The only reason this person is allowed to act this way is because the company allows it.
