[Serious]Will Australia actually change for the worse?

Yes, Australia is changing for the worse, so is the rest of the world.

Corporate interests, which were already too powerful, are now calling the shots in this country. The megarich and powerful call the shots, people like you and me don't have any real say in where our tax money goes.

Our human rights record is a disgrace. The rest of the planet is watching our treatment of asylum seekers with disgust. It is illegal to report the physical or sexual abuse of refugee children in detention centres. It is ILLEGAL TO REPORT the physical or sexual abuse of refugee children in detention centres. That is an example of an unambiguously evil policy... and it has bipartisan support in parliament.

Everything you say and do is now being monitored by the government. This is completely legal and, again, has bipartisan support. We're still allowed to ask questions like the question you're asking, and give answers like the one I'm giving. However, we have no constitutional protection against being, for example, put on a watch list for saying it, or trailed by domestic spies. Ten years ago, I would've been told to put on a tin foil hat. Now, it's just a fact.

Our welfare is being eroded. Our right to public healthcare and education is being eroded.

Our prisons are filling up at an alarming rate and are becoming privatised. We're starting to look an awful lot like America.

Our coral reefs are being destroyed by acifidication and mining pollution. Everyone knows it's happening. Nobody gives a fuck.

But, if you think this is bad, wait to see what it will look like a few decades from now, when we're dealing with constant massive bushfires, droughts, food shortages and oil depletion. Not to mention the projected worldwide refugee crisis will be climbing well into the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS.

Are we fucked? Absolutely.
