Weird shit has been hitting the fan.
It's going to seem like I jump into awful shit quickly, but that's not the point of the story. My brother was murdered in 2007. They caught the guy immediately, took 2.5 years to get to a plea deal and sentencing--life with parole in 15 years minus time served. So we're looking at almost 7 years left before he could be up for parole.
Yesterday, I got a call from a number I didn't know. Took me less than 30 seconds to google the number and call back--it was already disconnected. It was the number for the Parole and Probation board of the city my brother's murderer is being kept in. We're only supposed to be notified if he dies, escapes, or comes up for parole. I don't even live in that state. What's the likelihood of that being a coincidental wrong number?
I call the number the disconnected line gives me (the actual Parole Board number) and just get the run around from about 5 diff offices. I call my mom and she freaks out a bit too, tells me to look him up online while she calls her contact at the DA office.
So I look him up. I see this guy's face for the first time in 5 years, since I told him that even an eternal punishment of hell couldn't satisfy me for what he's done. Wish I still believed in hell, just for him.
He looks older. My brother doesn't.
Mom got in touch with the DA's office, he hasn't escaped or died. Woman said that if he had, a recorded voicemail would have been left. So who called me?? More importantly, WHYYYY???? How can a line be disconnected so quickly, especially a state agency? There was already a prepared recording on the line, directing me to a new number. How could it be disconnected and then the recording be added so quickly And this happens less than two weeks after my only other brother and I talk about what we would do if he escaped. It was the first time we actually honestly talked about it.
Was this a glitch in the matrix? Was I trying to warn myself? Or was it really just the most coincidental thing to ever fucking happen to me? I feel like they're about equally likely at this point, because FUCKING REALLY??
I got so upset at work I had to leave around 3. I don't do that kind of shit. I'm irrationally angry about the whole thing, maybe because there's nothing I can do.
Can anyone think of other explanations? Phone extensions messing up or something?
