Since we are talking about traditions.
Examples from the bible.
That whole "Thou shalt not commit adultery" Yeah that only applied to women. Well to be precise it applied to men in not having sex with a married woman.
However men could have multiple wives, mistresses, and sex slaves. Also having sex with a prostitute wasn't that big of a deal. If you had sex with a married women both of you died. Even if it was rape. For a married woman having sex with any male outside of her husband could end up in death, rape or not.
The rape tax. Often times that was basically a marriage tax. You break it you buy it sort of thing. So if you wanted a wife, just find someone to rape. People argue that this is a punishment but not in the terms of non-consensual sex. You basically cost the father an asset he had in making family or political ties. Non-consensual sex was not considered that bad of a thing. In fact the bible is totally cool with that. Like really really okay with that. In fact
Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves.
-Moses
The bible is okay with abortion but it is for the men to basically decide. If a man thought his wife's fetus was not his he can make her drink basically an abortion potion. If it causes her to have a miscarriage it was not his, if she didn't it was considered his.
The father chose who his children would marry. Excluding if the son basically went his own way.
Remarrying as a widow was really only problematic if you were a woman.
That whole stronger emphasis on women to be virgins. That was mostly for the husbands, if not completely. It was to ensure you were raising your kid. Particularly considering marriage was normally considered legitimate after sex usually on the wedding day. A woman would get pregnant quickly, so there was no question who the father was.
