Shallan's Character Arc

I Oathbringer though, I think her story arc just meanders about a lot for me. The Kholinar sections with her were very repetitive and I also didn't enjoy how little impact her multiple personality flaw in the end had on her. She created Veil and Radiant to cope with certain problems but we never see Veil and Radiant explore those problems in any sort of engaging way. I also don't like how that plot line wraps up. She just suddenly decides that everything's fine now and that she doesn't need Veil and Radiant? Then what was the point of our emotional investment in those segments.

I don't necessarily dislike Shallan in either book but I agree with this assessment. If I were to suggest an improvement of Oathbringer then it would be tighten up Shallans journey.

More specifically I felt her side story of feeding the orphan(s) and the hungry didn't have enough of an impact for her overall arc given how much space it is given.

It felt more like a distraction during an already busy part of the book with multiple Unmade, getting into the palace, the wall guards, Azure, and impending invasion by the fused.

That said it does lead up to one of my favourite Wit cameos with him comforting her at the end.
