Shallow because I want jewelry as a gift??

I’m curious how you’d explain the difference between “thoughtful” and “romantic,” when thinking about a gift from your SO. What (besides jewelry) would be romantic?

I understand if there’s something “romantic” about jewelry itself—the gesture of permanence, beauty. You’re not wrong for wanting it, or being upset that he blew up at you so irrationally.

You mention the $5 slippers, but judging from the brands, the makeup items he gave you in that same Christmas gift probably cost at least $50-$75.

It just sounds like he put effort (and money!) into several gifts that reflect your lifestyle/interests, and you couldn’t get excited about them...and that makes me curious whether you ONLY wanted jewelry. What he gave you doesn’t sound like a trash present, or unromantic, and IMO little souvenirs and your favorite snacks are pretty sweet.
