But Jesus is in the Quran. Like Moses before him, and Mohammad after him, Jesus is one of God's prophets tasked with guiding Muslims down their righteous path.

The Quran even refers to Jesus as "the Messiah", and "Christ." Just like in the Bible, he is born to the Virgin Mary, relays God's messages, performs miracles, teaches the Torah and the gospels, and has a following of "God's helpers" who spread Jesus's teaching and establish a formal religion.

Muslims' view of Jesus only breaks with that of Christians when it comes to Christ's divinity. Muslims believe Jesus was created by God, "pure" (like Adam), but he was strictly the Lord's messenger, not the Lord himself.

For example, take this passage where Mary learns that she is pregnant:

The angels said, "O Mary, God sends you the good news of a Command of His: his name shall be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary -- distinguished in this world and the Hereafter among those brought to God. He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity, and he will be of the righteous." Mary said, "How, O Lord, shall I have a son, when no man has ever touched me?" "Thus shall it be," was the answer. "God will teach him the writing and wisdom of the Torah and the Gospels, and appoint him His Messenger to the children of Israel."

And then when Jesus delivers this message:

"I have come to you with a clear sign from your Lord. I heal the blind and the lepers, and I give the dead life through God's Command. Surely that is a sign (of God) for you, if you are believers. I have come to confirm some of the earlier teachings of the Torah, as well as to make lawful some of these restrictions. I have come with a clear sign from your Lord; so fear God and obey me. Indeed God is my Lord, and also your Lord; therefore worship Him alone: that is the straight way."

The events in both passages should be immediately familiar to any Christian. The only variation is that, in the Quran, is no more than a human prophet sent by God. Even so, God's message remains the same.
