Sheil Kapadia, ESPN: Russell Wilson has the edge over Andrew Luck through first four seasons (even from only inside the pocket!)

I mean, if you can use stats to compare Big Ben/Eli/Rivers (all from the same draft class) or Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco (from the same draft class

Well you shouldn't really use just stats to compare those guys either.

How else could you compare the two?

Watching them and putting their situations in proper context.

A lot of people seem to lose all semblance of sense or reason when these 2 guys get brought up. How on earth can you compare their vanilla stats.

Why don't we give a bumper of 20% to all Lucks positive stats and decrease all his negative stats by 20% simply because he has never had anything but a horrendous run game so he has always faced 2 high safeties and every defensive coordinator only has to worry about their passing game. Where is the stat for that?

Marshawn Lynch drew 7-8 man boxes consistently throughout Wilsons career (especially important in his formative NFL years), how do we factor that into your "stats".

If Wilson got thrown to the fire into a garbage 2 win team could he make the playoffs 3 years in a row? Who knows.....

If Luck got to join the best defense and top 3 run game and didn't have to take any risks or do everything him self would he have a ring and be considered a top 5 QB like Wilson? Who knows.....

Their situations are far too different to use just stats to compare them, unfortunately nobody on this sub wants to have a reasonable discussion, people just want to call players "overrated" and proclaim the "media was always wrong" and they were always right.
