Shelter dog is thrilled to be adopted :)

Any reputable breeder is going to be far more picky than a shelter.

try telling that to my local rescues - all of them turned me down because I was a college student. My local breeder had me fill out an app that was completely fair and reasonable and I got my pup who is truly a one-in-a-million dog according to everyone I meet. The requirements for some were absolutely ridiculous and don't help the animals at all. One lady scolded me because I expected the cattle dog I was looking at to be alone for 8 hours for two days a week because of my work hours. Lady, if the dog can't stay alone for that long then it has some serious issues and you shouldn't even have it up for adoption as a 'normal dog with no issues'.
