Shirogane [Ultimate] - Setting your expectation

I'm quite apprehensive about the housings and the way Square Enix is handling it. My friends and I have been working day and night to set up our own FC and gather the money for a plot. We're a small 4-person team, but we'll be competing against free companies that will have multiple runners with the required amount of gil on them.

I've always wanted a house to work on, it seems a lot of fun, but so few players are going to get to experience that joy. The way they are handling houses are very strange. I don't mind that there are limited plots, but there are -no- ways to get people off their plots once they have them, unless you are playing on a small server, or offer ridiculous amounts of gil(which is also a banable offense, but everyone already does it). But even on the small servers I've been hearing tales of rich players transferring and buying up multiple plots for themselves. They pay their subscription and they get to keep the house. A FC needs only one member to be active.

At least in Ultima Online, a game that Yoshida himself said was his inspiration for the housing, people had to pay a rent for the plot. And that was also a game where you could get killed by another player and have him steal all your money. If all this hard work comes to nothing, I don't really know what we'll be doing. I'll probably stop playing honestly, I want some social activity to do together, but Square Enix are too stubborn to change anything about the system to make it better and fairer. If I knew that even if we missed this opportunity, there'd be a fair chance to get one in the future, then that'd be a different thing. But I know the only thing we can do is grind up for under the table deals that leaves us at risk of having our money stolen from us.
