Shop owner catch a shoplifter and instead of getting them arrested, he feeds the kids because he's hungry.

One morning after a storm an old man was walking by the shore when he saw a little child picking up starfishes that has been washed ashore and throwing them back into the ocean. Puzzled, the man asked the kid why is he doing something like this does, he does not know that there are literally thousands of them here on this coast line and how many of it can he save. The kid ignored the old man and continue doing what he was doing. Then a moment past the kid answered back those and soon these.

Just because what you're doing pales in comparison to what needs to be done, it still matters a lot to the people you've helped. No need to be a pretentious douche and saying that an act of kindness is "really isn't that wholesome" because what he did doesn't help people at all in the grand scheme of thing. In the grand scheme of things everybody is dead so no point in doing anything then.
