Short Atlantic article: "homestead"+MLM+blog+fundamentalism+wearingfakeeyelasheswhilemilkingcow

I remember looking at this blog a few times for recipes, but I never really followed the narrative or "homesteading" part. I do not share the views of this blogger on the gender roles, religion, or much else, but I can, on some level, understand how a highly-technological society can be alienating. My nervous system is sensitive, and I personally feel better if I keep the tv off, use natural light as much as possible, and limit overstimulating influences. As far as homesteading goes though, I am WAY too lazy, and I think the romance of that life wouldn't last long. The only way I could live that lifestyle would be to drop all my other interests and pursuits. I'm not going to have time for much else if I have to spend all day weeding and washing diapers and picking the feathers off ducks.
