Short rant: for-profit schools and their scams

From the profiles I have looked at for some of the local teaching schools around me, a lot of the younger AP's are coming from either lower ranked full time PhD programs or are coming from these part time DBA/PhD programs. Many non-TT instructors/lecturers just have masters degrees. For the public directional universities near me most are making from 75-100k for a 4-4, which I at least think is a decent salary considering cost of living for this area, especially if there isn't much pressure to publish in top journals if at all. I think that pay range and teaching load would scare away the majority of R1 program graduates considering their opportunity cost and likely better options. Also there is a not insignificant portion of faculty at these local teaching schools coming from for profit schools that aren't even AACSB accredited in the case of a few of the programs.

I am pretty much fine with targeting these type of teaching schools or LACs in my area with a 3-3 or 4-4 load and pay between 65-100k starting out after the program. Also I know someone currently in the program and they have indicated that her cohort has faculty that are already at some of these teaching schools while attending the PhD program part time. The worst case scenario after the program is that I land nothing and I just continue working my current day job and adjuncting on the side. Because the program is part time if a non-TT or lecturer position opens up I can always do that while finishing up the PhD. While the part time format completely eliminates the option of getting a TT position at research university it does opens up the ability to take a full time teaching job whenever one pops up that I think I would like.
