Should I (23NB) tell my husband (24M) that I didn’t like my birthday gift?

Some people are just really bad at giving gifts. You can let him know, but come to a compromise.

Personally, I don’t think it’s a bad gift. Maybe it wasn’t executed in the way you wanted it to, but he knew it was something you wanted (he went with you!) and paid for the balance. Why wouldn’t you be happy getting something you wanted? If he didn’t gift it to you, you would have forgotten like you said.

My boyfriend loathes getting gifts for me. It’s not that he’s lazy or doesn’t try to, he just wants his gift to be something I really want or can use. And that’s fair enough to me. So we go out and buy the gift together or I’ll tell him a few things I want and let him know he can pick. I don’t mind it not being a surprise, it’s the fact that he wants me happy and for my gift to be something I truly want.
